Operations Manager – Boulder Co. Christchurch
Location: Riccarton, Christchurch
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time (40+ hours per week)

Boulder Co. Christchurch will be more than just a bouldering gym—imagine a thriving hub for climbers, fitness enthusiasts, and social adventurers. As one of the largest indoor climbing facilities in New Zealand, Boulder Co. Christchurch will combine world-class bouldering, a cutting-edge fitness gym, and a vibrant café/bar.
We’re looking for an operations manager to take the lead in managing the day-to-day running of the facility, ensuring seamless operations, safety, and an exceptional customer experience.
What you’ll do:
· Lead & manage – Oversee the daily operations of the gym, café, coaching programmes, and route-setting team.
· Create an exceptional experience – Maintain Boulder Co.’s reputation for top-tier customer service and a welcoming community.
· Drive business growth – Develop and execute strategies for financial success, event management, and industry-leading safety standards.
· Manage & train staff – Supervise and develop a team of duty managers, coaches, route setters, and café staff.
· Oversee events & competitions – Plan, execute, and elevate Boulder Co.’s competitions and community events.
· Ensure safety & compliance – Uphold high standards of health and safety, financial management, and industry regulations.
What we’re looking for:
· Passion for climbing and the outdoor industry.
· Strong leadership experience in operations in the hospitality or fitness industries.
· Excellent people management and communication skills.
· Financial acumen, including payroll and accounting software (Xero preferred).
· Experience in hospitality (barista training, LCQ certification, or alcohol handling is a plus).
· First aid certification and a strong commitment to safety.
· New Zealand resident or work visa holder.
