The Temple of Doom (V3) is a classic basalt highball located in the Wairere Boulders Nature Reserve, in the Hokianga region, just a few hours north of Auckland.

Wairere Boulders is a privately owned nature reserve. Access to the boulders is available for $15 per person per day.

The basalt karst boulders in this farm landscape offer some of the best bouldering in the North Island. 

With more than 50 established routes from V0 to V9, this spot is worth a few visits!

This area is private property and a working farm. You must contact the owners before bouldering at Wairere. Boulders may be off-limits during parts of the year.
